So, What Is Nutritional Therapy?

Simply stated, Nutritional Therapy is a holistic, food-first approach to wellness.

How is this different from a more traditional approach to nutritional wellness? And why is it important to look at an individual beyond their current dietary habits? Nutritional Therapy is rooted in bio-individuality, the belief that our nutritional requirements differ from one another. This means there truly is no one “perfect” human diet. What worked for your friend, family member or co-worker may not be the best fit for you.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTPs) are trained to develop individualized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, based on in-depth clinical analysis tools and focused client meetings. We prioritize a whole foods approach to healing, recognizing that real food is the ultimate foundation of health. When working with me, you will learn how to listen to your body and tune in to your own innate intelligence. You will walk away with a renewed understanding of yourself and an individualized guide to optimal health.

Hey There!

A Holistic Approach Is A Balanced Approach

“What is your health really worth to you?”

NTPs are further trained to support optimal whole body wellness by looking closely at each individual Foundation of Health - digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid balance, mineral balance, and hydration. Dysfunction or disruption in any one Foundation has a ripple effect throughout the entire system. This idea also parallels why NTPs choose to take a holistic approach to wellness; nutritional balance alone may not correct other imbalances within the body system. It is so important to consider other likely contributors to dysfunction, such as poor sleep quality, high stress levels, toxin exposure, environmental concerns, aging, limited access to resources and more. By widening the lens and looking at the complete picture, NTPs gain a deeper understanding of their clients and the interplay between all these factors.

It is important to mention that Nutritional Therapy is not a short-cut to health but rather a long-lasting approach to wellness. It can certainly take time to unearth, analyze, and restore function to areas of concern. I understand how tempting it is to pursue a quick fix for health; we are constantly bombarded by fancy false advertising. So consider what brought you here instead - did that last quick fix you tried actually work for you? Did it elicit lasting and sustainable change? Really ponder on that one for a moment. And then think about this: What is your health really worth to you?
